Leigh Waters Makes Triumphant Return in Daytona

The PPA Daytona Beach Open wrapped up the 2024 season with some fresh faces on the podium. With many top pros opting to take the event off, new partnerships flourished and unexpected gold medal winners emerged. The men’s singles semi-finals saw Michael Loyd and Zane Ford go head-to-head, with Ford ultimately besting Loyd to face the No. 1 seed, Federico Staksrud, who maintained his dominance to claim the gold. On the women’s side, Kaitlyn Christian celebrated a significant milestone, seccuring her first PPA gold medal. Mixed doubles introduced some exciting new partnerships. Teen duo Jorja Johnson and Hayden Patriquin powered their way to the final and the gold medal, the first ever PPA mixed gold medal for Patriquin. In men’s doubles, Andrei Daescu and CJ Klinger proved to be an unstoppable force, overcoming top seeds to take home the gold. The gold was a landmark achievement for Klinger, marking his first ever gold medal. Leigh Waters also made a triumphant return to women’s doubles. The legendary mother-daughter duo of Leigh and Anna Leigh further solidified their legacy with yet another gold medal win.
